Nexus 9000 Error: Cannot apply non layer-2 Monitor on an L2 interface?

I am trying to apply NetFlow monitor on an interface on Cisco 9000 series. Flow Exporter, Flow Record, and Flow Monitor were all successfully configured. 

Switch(config-if)# ip flow monitor NetFlow_XXXX input

I do not see any further commands that gets me past this error: Cannot apply non layer-2 Monitor on an L2 interface.

Does anyone have a solution to a work around?

I answered my own question. It looks like I have to apply to the VLAN interface.
