AppleWatch - MFA code no display

I have Duo installed and working on Applewatch. BUT - there is no way to read a two-factor pass code like other authenticators. WHY? is this a config issue?

In other words, unless there is a push the Duo doesn’t show the manual pass code such as Okta or google authenticator would display when push is not enabled
